Chile to Send Official to Talk with Rapa Nui
After yesterday’s eviction of Rapa Nui protesters from a hotel on the island by the police, and the subsequent re-occupation of that same hotel by additional Rapa Nui clan members, the Chilean government announced that Rodrigo Ubilla, the Undersecretary of the Department of the Interior, will travel to the island on Sunday. Ubilla said that discussions over land claims will be possible if the clans involved end their occupations of buildings around the island. Continue reading
